Strengthening internal security is necessary for the developed India of 2047: Amit Shah

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the concluding session of the 'National Security Strategy Conference' of the Intelligence Bureau in New Delhi on Tuesday, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the target of a developed India in 2047 and its first condition is strong internal security. He said that if India has to become a leader in the world in every field, then internal security will have to be further strengthened. Director Generals of Police of all the states, senior police officers and representatives of central security agencies participated in the two-day conference through physical and virtual medium.

Amit Shah said that the platform of the National Security Strategy Conference should assess the international trends of the next 15 to 20 years and decide what problems may emerge in the future and what should be the strategy to prevent them. He said that the responsibility is not only to overcome the current challenges, but also to identify the challenges that may arise in the future and prevent them from arising.

Mention of Naxalism, Narcotics and the challenge of North East

The Home Minister said that if earlier governments had visualized the problems of narcotics, Naxalism and North East before they became acute, the country would not have had to bear their brunt for decades. When the problem is small and is solved at the time of its origin, it is easier to control. He said that the challenge posed by the three hotspots of internal security has been eliminated and the credit for this goes to the police forces of all the states of the country, central agencies and CAPF.

Amit Shah said that the Modi government has brought three new judicial codes and a network of forensic science laboratories has been prepared. Every year 37,000 new youth are graduating through Forensic Science University. He said that the work of modernization of the five pillars of judicial codes, upgradation of technology and data preparation is being implemented well. The target is to achieve 100% implementation of the three justice codes in the next one year, thereby ensuring disposal of criminal cases up to the Supreme Court within three years and a 25% increase in the conviction rate.

Action on PFI described as an example of centre-state coordination

The Home Minister described the crackdown on the Popular Front of India (PFI), banning it and dismantling its cadre in a single night as an excellent example of Centre-State coordination. He said that several steps including modernization of prisons have laid a strong foundation in the field of internal security. Now there is a need to stand on this platform and strengthen the internal security system without any loopholes.

Call to make 'Prahar' a part of everyday action

Amit Shah called for removing 'Prahar' from the document and including it in everyday practice for complete eradication of terrorism. He said that through this the 360 ​​degree terrorist network should be ended. ‘Prahar’ needs to be imbibed as a culture at least up to the DYSP level. He asked all the DGPs to prepare necessary mechanisms and verticals for this in their respective states.

On the campaign against narcotics, the Home Minister said that the police of all the states should implement the 'Narcotics Control Vision Document 2026-2029'. For a drug free India, there is a need to work on three D's i.e. Detect, Disrupt and Destroy. He asked the DGP to study the time-bound program and form such teams in their states, which would take each and every dimension of it to its logical conclusion.

Quadrilateral border security approach to stop infiltration

On border security, Amit Shah said that after visiting all the land-border states in the last eight months, the Home Ministry has shared the document of the quadrilateral border security approach with the states. He said that the government's aim is to make the country infiltrator free in a very short time. For this, it was suggested to appoint a senior IG or ADG rank officer as the nodal officer in each state.

The Home Minister said that the citizens of the country have the right to live in India and other people should stay only after taking permission through legal means. He described the infiltrators as a threat to the country's security, economy and demographic change. He said that anti-infiltrator campaign will be a very important campaign in the coming times.
