Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday presented approval letters to about 2,500 women under the Delhi Laxmi Scheme in a program organized at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi. Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 2,500 will be sent directly to the bank accounts of eligible women every month from September 1.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that special attention is being given to women in all the schemes and programs of the Delhi government. He said that women are like Goddess Lakshmi, who strengthens the family and society.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, BJP Delhi unit president Harsh Malhotra and Delhi government ministers were present in the program.
According to the government, about 9,13,495 beneficiaries have been registered under the Lakshmi scheme. Of these, 6,52,223 women have submitted complete applications. From September 1, an amount of Rs 2,500 will be sent directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries every month.
The government said the financial assistance is aimed at helping women meet their everyday needs and providing them with greater financial security. Under the scheme, different options have also been given for the use of assistance amount.
Rs 1,000 digital currency, Rs 1,500 investment option
If the beneficiary wishes, she can get Rs 1,000 through central bank digital currency and invest Rs 1,500 in fixed deposits or recurring deposits. Apart from this, she can also deposit the entire amount of Rs 2,500.
According to the Chief Minister's Office, applicants will also be given an opportunity to correct incorrect or incomplete information given in the application or to complete the missing information. For this, improvement facility will soon be made available on the portal of Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.
Under the scheme, eligible women aged between 21 to 60 years will be given financial assistance every month. However, women from families with more than three children and whose annual household electricity consumption is more than 2,400 units are not included in the scheme. (input language)
