| Photo Credit: Dar Yasin The number of people from Karnataka reported stranded or missing in Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) following flash floods has risen to 28, the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) informed on August 29.

on August 29. Most of those reported stranded or missing are believed to be at Timure in Rasuwa district, Nepal, while a few are at Darchen in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Four of the 28 persons have been confirmed safe and are transiting to Nepal, while search and tracing efforts are continuing to locate the remaining 24.
The flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border and adjoining areas have caused loss of life and extensive damage to critical infrastructure, disrupting road connectivity and movement in several areas. The Karnataka government stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with officials in the Ministry of External Affairs and Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi to coordinate rescue efforts.
The SEOC is operating round-the-clock and can be contacted at 1070 or 080-22253707. Infosys Public Services CEO Lax Gopisetty, who was in Nepal on a personal visit, has been unreachable following the devastating floods, according to the company.
The company said its primary concern was Mr. Gopisetty’s safety and well-being. It was coordinating with the relevant authorities and agencies to obtain information about his whereabouts and re-establish contact with him.
