The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) accused Delhi Police of trying to hide the death of a girl at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in south Delhi’s Satya Niketan area. The police, however, stated they have not received any such complaint.
In a post on X, AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that local residents have said that a few weeks ago, a female student died here after falling from a PG under suspicious circumstances. He accused the police of hushing up the matter instead of conducting a fair investigation.
“If one of our daughters fell from a PG and died, the police should provide the information to established under what circumstances she fell. Why is the police silent on the entire matter," he said, after visiting the area.
Responding to the allegations, DCP southwest Delhi Amit Goel said the police has not received any new complaint. “We have already shared all the details. There is nothing new or additional. The details shared by us are factual and correct,” Mr.
Goel said. The allegations come in the wake of the September 6 collapse of a five-storey building housing a boys’ hostel in Satya Niketan that killed seven persons. The AAP has been mounting attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party alleging that RK Puram BJP MLA Anil Sharma and others party leaders are running a ‘PG mafia’ in the area and the authorities are shielding them.
In another post on X, Mr. Bharadwaj said, “The MCD is functioning like a mafia—houses of those who don’t pay bribes are demolished to instill fear in people, while no action is taken against those who do pay bribes. This is directly evidenced by the illegal PG owned by BJP MLA Anil Sharma on Ring Road.
According to the documents, he had only 230 square yards of land, on which he encroached upon 600 square yards of government land to build the PG illegally.” Mr. Sharma has dismissed the allegations and threatened to file a defamation case against AAP leaders.
