GORAKHPUR: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday lauded the contribution of medical professionals towards public welfare, highlighting the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for extending its role beyond clinical practice by establishing charitable blood banks and free outpatient departments (OPDs) in Gorakhpur.Speaking at the inauguration of the Charitable Blood Centre at the IMA Building in Gorakhpur, Adityanath emphasised that institutional participation in community healthcare marks a significant milestone in social responsibility. He said, "Indian Medical Association is not only an all-India organisation of practising doctors.

It has also fulfilled its social responsibility by starting blood banks and free OPDs in areas of Gorakhpur."The Uttar Pradesh CM further noted that while individual medical practitioners serve through state-run and private systems, collective initiatives by professional bodies can strengthen the grassroots healthcare framework."While doctors may practise individually through government or private setups, an organisation collectively running free OPDs or blood banks is an additional achievement in itself," Yogi Adityanath said.
