The police said that the accused, identified as Kondappagiri Madhukar Reddy (42), visited his house recently after being out on bail. Madhukar Reddy had a heated argument with his wife, Dandamani (38). In a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in her death. He fled the spot, leaving Dandamani's body in a pool of blood, the police said.

Deputy SP (Madanapalle) M. Buchi Raju inspected the crime scene. Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunubilli constituted special teams to trace Madhukar Reddy.

All the police stations in Annamayya district have been alerted. Special parties have been posted at the inter-state checkposts, while the CCTV footage gathered from all arterial junctions in Madanapalle are being monitored.

Madhukar Reddy was convicted of attacking a bank employee, Jyothi Uday, inside an ATM kiosk at Corporation Circle in Bengaluru on November 19, 2013. The CCTV footage, which went viral, showed him assaulting the woman with a machete before fleeing with her belongings.

Madhukar Reddy remained elusive for over three years before being arrested in Madanapalle in February 2017. A City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru convicted him, sentencing him to ten years imprisonment in the ATM attack case.
