A police inspector in Bengaluru and three of his co-passengers were killed in a road accident in Madhya Pradesh on Friday after their sleeper bus proceeding towards Indore from Lucknow rammed into the safety wall of a bridge.
Twelve other passengers sustained serious injuries. According to the police, Ravi K B, 45, inspector at the Southeast Cybercrime Station, was sleeping on the upper berth when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve on the flyover of Biaora bypass in Rajgarh district around 8.30 am.
The impact of the crash shattered the windows, throwing several passengers off the bus. Ravi fell from the flyover, sustaining fatal injuries, an officer said. The police said Ravi and his team had gone to Madhya Pradesh as part of a cybercrime investigation.
The identities of the other Bengaluru police personnel travelling on the bus are yet to be confirmed. However, the police said they were safe. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said, “A team from the Southeast CEN police station had travelled to Madhya Pradesh in connection with a cybercrime case and arrested two accused.
While some members of the team returned to Bengaluru, Ravi and two others remained in Madhya Pradesh”. The team had stayed back to catch another accused in the case, Singh added.
