Bhushan Kumar joins Rishab Shetty for two-part biopic on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Producer Bhushan Kumar has joined forces with Rishab Shetty for the two-part biopic on Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Titled The Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the film is co-written and directed by Sandeep Singh and is currently under pre-production.

It will commence in early 2027. As per a press release, the film is being conceived on a large scale and “will explore defining battles, extraordinary sacrifices, landmark victories and lesser-known chapters from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s remarkable journey with an aim to capture his military genius, strategic foresight, fearless leadership and transformative vision of Swarajya.” ALSO WATCH Watch | Rishab Shetty on the magic of ‘Kantara’ and why the tale has universal appeal The collaboration brings together Bhushan Kumar, known for mounting successful Hindi movies, with Rishbh, the actor-filmmaker behind the Kantara films.

Speaking about the film, Bhushan Kumar said in a statement, “When Sandeep Singh narrated ‘The Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’, I felt a deep sense of responsibility to bring this extraordinary story to the big screen.

With Rishab Shetty’s powerful screen presence and his ability to bring legendary figures to life, I believe we have the right combination to bring the courage, vision and spirit of Swarajya to audiences across generations.” The film is co-produced by Rishab Shetty, Shiv Chanana and Kabiir Sadanand.
