Comprehensive News & Policy Report

The Telangana BJP on Tuesday sought Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s intervention to ensure the Congress government clears pending fee reimbursement dues of ₹15,000 crore and holds a dedicated discussion on the issue in the Legislative Assembly during the ongoing session.

A delegation led by State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum highlighting what it described as the government’s failure to address a crisis affecting lakhs of students.

The party also warned of intensifying its agitation if there was no response from the government. Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Rao alleged that around 40 lakh students had been affected by fee reimbursement arrears accumulated from both the previous BRS regime and the current Congress government.

He said students continued to face uncertainty despite the government recently releasing limited funds for those admitted in the current academic year. Whatever funds were released came only after repeated interventions by the High Court and sustained protests by the BJP.

However, the longstanding arrears remain unpaid, causing hardship to students and educational institutions. The BJP leader criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Education portfolio, accusing him of allowing the education sector to slide into crisis.

He further demanded the immediate withdrawal of what he termed “false and illegal” cases registered against BJP workers during recent protests. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised the conduct of political parties in the Assembly, claiming that people were “disgusted” with the proceedings and the language being used by legislators.

He accused BRS leaders of using objectionable language against the Speaker and demanded immediate action against BRS MLC Tata Madhu. Mr. Sanjay described the incident as condemnable and argued that valuable Assembly time was being wasted on political war of words instead of addressing pressing public issues.

He said matters such as restrictions on lands listed under Section 22A, fee reimbursement dues, drinking water shortages, unemployment, non-payment of Dearness Allowance (DA), and retirement benefits deserved priority discussion in the Legislature.
