NEW DELHI: Ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the political battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) has intensified with AI-generated songs and videos.SP chief Akhilesh Yadav shared an AI-generated video targeting Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, drawing a sharp response from the BJP.The latest exchange began after BJP-backed social media handles circulated an AI-generated song targeting Akhilesh Yadav, calling him "Teepu" and accusing his government of presiding over lawlessness. The song featured the lyrics: “UP badnaam hua, Teepu tere maare… (UP has become infamous because of Teepu).” The accompanying video used an AI-generated depiction of the SP chief. In response to this, the Samjawadi Party media cell on Monday shared an AI-generated video targeting CM Yogi Adityanath, referring to him as "Baba". The video featured AI-generated visuals of the Uttar Pradesh CM and took aim at the state government over issues including unemployment and alleged paper leaks. The song used the line, “UP badnaam hua, Baba tere maare… (UP has become infamous because of Baba)”.

Akhilesh has frequently referred to Adityanath as "Baba" while attacking the chief minister politically.“If the BJP uses AI to make songs targeting me, we will also respond to those songs with songs,” Akhilesh said. The SP chief also alleged that AI-generated videos were being created and circulated to defame opposition leaders. He cautioned the government against using artificial intelligence for such purposes and claimed that the SP would outpace the BJP in the use of the technology if such a battle continued. The Samajwadi Party media cell also warned the BJP against using AI to target the party."Listen, BJP folks Stop playing this childish, deceptive game with AI; the socialists haven't even started playing the real game yet, Look here, brother, this is social media—if you start it, we've got a full accounting of your 10 years, you'll make one, and our creative workers and socialist supporters will pour cold water on everything you've done For now, take this first response; you won't even be able to handle the next one"Join conversation

Reacting to the AI-generated video targeting Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh minister Dayashankar Singh accused the SP of trying to create an atmosphere of tension ahead of the 2027 elections."The Samajwadi Party feels its defeat in 2027 is certain, so by doing things like this, they want to spoil the atmosphere, in view of the development that has taken place in Uttar Pradesh and the pace of development in the country under PM Modi's leadership. The BJP won with a thumping majority in Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Bihar, Bengal... Now elections are happening in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi and Yogi ji are here; a tsunami is going to sweep here. In frustration, the Samajwadi Party is doing such things."
