NewsIndia NewsBuild AI to secure systems, serve humanity: PM Modi NEW DELHI: AI can give us answers quickly, but testing their veracity must remain the scientist’s responsibility, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Tuesday, urging scientists to innovate boldly.Speaking at ‘Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave’, Modi referred to AI-era cybersecurity threats to financial networks and national security, calling for AI-based and quantum security solutions to protect national systems and serve humanity.
“In the age of AI, there are challenges. While AI can execute tasks to boost productivity, it must enrich rather than restrict independent thinking, allowing researchers to use saved time for harder problems, new experiments and idea validation,” he said. The PM’s remarks came amid calls for AI regulation over fears it may go rogue, as the govt drafts a consultation paper on India’s AI policy.Modi said a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India) would rest on scientific research, discoveries and innovation.
He urged researchers, industry leaders, startup founders and students to set a three-year target for developing a technology, prototype, pilot project or product that could make India a global hub for solutions.Modi said India must prepare a generation that leads emerging science and technology, not merely participates in it, and called for expanding the country’s strength in critical technologies.
