Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Saturday launched a publicity campaign for the 23rd annual public Ganesh immersion procession to be held in Mysuru on September 20. Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated on Monday.
The procession, organised by the Mysuru Public Ganesh Immersion Committee, will begin from Veeranagere Veera Ganapathi Temple. At a programme held in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple here, Mr. Wadiyar flagged off the publicity vehicles after affixing stickers promoting the public Ganesh immersion festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Wadiyar said Ganeshotsava was not merely a religious celebration, but also an occasion to promote social unity, cultural values and patriotism. He appealed to devotees to participate in large numbers and make the procession a success.
MLA T.S. Srivatsa, former MP Pratap Simha, BJP city president L. Nagendra, former Mayor Sandesh Swamy and several BJP leaders were present. Publicity activities for the procession are being carried out across different parts of the city, with the organisers expecting a large turnout of devotees.
