An inter-State meeting convened by the Central Water Commission (CW) between the officials of irrigation/water resources of Telangana and Maharashtra to discuss the technical and inter-State issues pertaining to the construction of a barrage at Tummidihatti across Pranahita river proposed by Telangana at New Delhi on Tuesday ended without taking any decision.
The meeting chaired by CW Chairman was convened following a VIP reference of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. According to irrigation officials, the Telangana authorities handed over a report on the reasons for its proposal to increase the barrage height from 148 meters (above mean sea level), as agreed between the two States in 2016, to 152 meters.
It was decided to meet again three weeks later to discuss the issue further. Senior officials of the Irrigation/Water Resources Departments of the two States participated in the meeting.
