He realised after reaching the hotel that his small bag containing the cash was missing, police said.Information about the missing bag was received at 7.10 pm, following which teams were formed to trace the cab in which the delegate had travelled, deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma said, as quoted by news agency PTI.Join conversation InsightfulAgreeDisagreeSkepticalConcerningPromisingWorth ReadingBig Development A police team reached the hotel around 7.15 pm and collected details of the delegate’s journey and the vehicle before beginning efforts to locate the cab.Cab driver traced, bag found under seat Police identified the cab and traced its driver around 7.45 pm.

The missing bag was subsequently recovered from under a seat of the vehicle, officials said.According to police, the driver initially tried to evade the police but later cooperated, leading to the recovery of the bag.After verification, the entire cash amount was handed back to the delegate at 8.15 pm, nearly 30 minutes before his scheduled departure for South Africa.The delegate had been in the national capital to participate in the Brics Summit.
