Drug kingpin Virender Baisoya’s son arrested after return from Dubai

The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Rishabh Baisoya on Tuesday shortly after he arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport from Dubai, officials said. The court’s order to cancel his Red Corner Notice and Look Out Circular enabled the authorities to detain him, after which he was produced before a magistrate and remanded in police custody for a week.

Rishabh, 23, had been on the run since early 2024 and was alleged to have facilitated a cocaine shipment in October 2024 by handing over his uncle’s Toyota Fortuner to Jatinder Gill alias Jassi for transport from Delhi to Punjab. Police recovered 1 kg of cocaine from the vehicle during a raid in Amritsar. The broader case involves multiple large seizures, including 562 kg in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur on October 1, 208 kg in West Delhi’s Ramesh Nagar on October 10, and 518 kg seized in Gujarat’s Ankleshwar on October 13, amounting to an estimated Rs 5,000 crore in street value.

Virender Baisoya, the alleged mastermind behind a Rs 13,000‑crore drug cartel, was extradited from Dubai in June and later arrested at Delhi airport on August 14. He is currently being questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with a 1,800 kg mephedrone seizure in Pune and Delhi. The Special Cell’s chargesheet lists 19 accused, with fourteen already in custody and the remaining, including Virender and his son, declared proclaimed offenders. Rishabh’s lawyer maintains that his client is being targeted solely for his family ties, noting his ongoing LLB studies at the University of West London.
