He highlighted persistent gaps such as three‑month delays in ration deliveries to Anganwadi centres and the absence of safe drinking water, toilets and hot meals.
The chief minister disclosed that the state has sanctioned approximately 1.90 lakh Anganwadi centres operating under 897 Child Development Projects, reaching about 1.56 crore beneficiaries each month. Around 35.46 lakh children receive hot‑cooked meals, while the health and growth metrics of roughly 46 lakh children are monitored regularly. The nutrition drive, running from September 9 to October 8, also ties into school infrastructure improvements, with 1.36 lakh schools upgraded under Operation Kayakalp and about 2,100 government‑aided inter colleges, many over four decades old, revitalised.
Adityanath emphasized that the first 1,000 days—from pregnancy through early childhood—are critical for a child’s development, and that balanced, diverse diets are essential. He referenced a study linking the lack of basic amenities such as food, water and separate toilets to higher dropout rates among girls between classes 3 and 7, noting that recent facility upgrades have begun to reverse this trend.
