The ministry of external affairs said the incident caused no major damage but was in direct contravention of Article 10 of the 1991 India-Pakistan agreement on advance notice of military exercises, manoeuvres and troop movements.

Pakistan’s charge d’affaires was asked to convey India’s concerns to the relevant authorities and ensure military units exercise due care. India’s Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad was also instructed to lodge a similar protest.

Police detained the accused, Shahnawaz, and registered an attempt-to-murder case based on the woman’s complaint. Police said the two were known to each other and had reportedly argued before the incident. The woman sustained injuries.

Saudi Arabia said its air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Mecca before it entered restricted airspace. The Houthis denied targeting Mecca. India also reiterated its opposition to attacks on Saudi territory and actions endangering civilians and infrastructure.
