Comprehensive News & Policy Report

The Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) and the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in biotechnology skill development through the FABA Finishing School Programme and promote greater engagement across the biotechnology ecosystem.

The MoU was signed by NIAB director Ravikumar Gandham and FABA executive president Pallu Reddanna, in the presence of FABA secretary general Ratnakar Palakodeti, members of the FABA Executive Council and NIAB scientists, said an official release issued on Wednesday.

Under the partnership, FABA and NIAB will work together to provide students with access to quality training facilities and practical exposure, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. The FABA Finishing School Programme focuses on imparting hands-on training in microbiology, molecular biology and cell biology to prepare students for careers in the biotechnology sector.

The month-long programme is designed for graduate and postgraduate students pursuing courses in biology, biotechnology, life sciences and pharmacy. The training programme aims to strengthen participants’ technical competencies, laboratory skills and professional capabilities required by the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Through practical learning and industry-oriented training, students will gain exposure to contemporary techniques and workplace practices. FABA also thanked Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) for its financial support to the programme.

The association said the company’s contribution has played a key role in strengthening industry-driven training initiatives for biotechnology and life sciences students, enabling them to acquire practical skills and experience aligned with industry needs.
