Ganesh celebrations from Sept. 14; immersion on Sept. 25

The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) disclosed its schedule for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at a press briefing on Thursday, naming president Rajasekhar Reddy and general secretary R. Shashidhar as the primary spokespersons. The announcement detailed that idol installations across Hyderabad will commence on September 14, followed by a mass immersion procession on September 25.

BGUS officials said immersion points have been earmarked at 150 locations, encompassing major water bodies such as Vinayaksagar (Hussainsagar), Saroornagar Lake, Ameenpur Lake and Kapra Lake, in addition to roughly 110 smaller ponds. The samithi emphasized that the preparatory work, carried out over the past three months, involved close collaboration with the police, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and other relevant government departments to ensure orderly conduct of the festivities.

The organizers noted that the festival is expected to generate significant economic activity, benefiting local artisans and workers engaged in traditional crafts. They also announced a series of cultural programmes covering themes like ‘Vande Mataram’, Telangana Liberation Day and Sant Ravidas, while urging authorities to avoid imposing what they described as “unnecessary” restrictions on sound systems during the celebrations.
