Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy performs ‘bhoomi puja’ for construction of additional class rooms at the Primary School in Gopalapuram village of Khammam district on Thursday.

The Congress government has implemented several key skill development initiatives over the past two and a half years to equip students with industry-relevant skills and transform them from job seekers into job creators, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said.

He was speaking after performing bhoomi puja for two additional classrooms, estimated to cost ₹30 lakh, at the Mandal Parishad Primary School in Gopalapuram village of Tirumalayapalem mandal in Khammam district on Thursday.

Outlining the initiatives, Mr. Srinivas Reddy said the Young India Skills University (YISU) had been established in Hyderabad to impart practical skills through industry-aligned skill development programmes across various sectors.

All Industrial Training Institutes (ITIIs) were being upgraded into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) as part of the State government’s efforts to strengthen the skill development ecosystem, he added.

The Congress government had accorded top priority to the education and health sectors, besides implementing welfare measures for farmers, women, and other sections of society, he said.
