Govt education policy is for Gen Alpha, Gen Beta and skills for Gen Z, Revanth tells Assembly

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy used a three‑hour address in the Assembly to unveil a revised education policy that targets the learning requirements of Generation Alpha and Beta while equipping Generation Z with market‑relevant skills. He stressed that modern curricula must prepare students for global competition and cited the Young India Skills University (YISU) as a cornerstone for future technical education.

The government has raised the education budget from ₹19,093 crore in 2023‑24 under the previous BRS administration to ₹21,292 crore for 2024‑25, ₹23,108 crore for 2025‑26 and ₹26,647 crore for 2026‑27, marking a cumulative increase of ₹7,554 crore over three years. Within the first year of the Congress government, 10,006 teacher vacancies were filled in 55 days, compared with 7,857 appointments over the prior decade. Enrollment in government schools has risen by 86,000 students, pre‑primary education now serves 64,000 children, and free breakfast and lunch are being provided from nursery through Class XII. The minister also defended GO Ms. No. 97, rejecting proposals to privatise polytechnics and noting a ₹4,000 crore industry infusion and foreign MoUs with YISU.

Reddy positioned the policy as a response to concerns that artificial intelligence is reshaping the job market and that thousands of engineers graduating each year need new pathways. By expanding early childhood education, accelerating teacher hiring and linking technical institutes with industry investment, the state aims to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged students and bolster the skilled workforce required for future economic growth.
