He got life term for killing grandchild, now accused of wife’s trishul murder

Kallan Raikwar, a 50‑year‑old who is serving a life sentence for the 2014 murder of his infant granddaughter, was arrested after allegedly stabbing his 45‑year‑old wife, Champa, to death with a trishul at their home in Ragauliya Buzurg village, Kulpahar area, Mahoba district. The arrest was confirmed by Superintendent of Police Shashank Singh, who said the suspect will be produced before the magistrate.

The incident occurred on Sunday night, and the victim was found dead the following morning when relatives were alerted. Raikwar had been on a 14‑day parole and was scheduled to return to Satna jail in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Police records show he was convicted in 2017 for crushing the head of his 10‑month‑old granddaughter with a stone, receiving a life term. His family includes a son who works as a labourer in Delhi and another son who died four years ago.

Authorities highlighted Raikwar’s history of violent behaviour, noting that he claimed his wife had poisoned his food before the attack. The case raises concerns about parole oversight and the safety of families of convicted offenders. Local residents expressed shock, and the police investigation continues to determine the exact motive behind the murder.
