Comprehensive News & Policy Report

Yashoda Hospitals, HITEC City branch has performed more than 400 kidney transplant surgeries since the launch of its kidney transplant programme, the hospital said on Saturday (August 29).

The milestone was highlighted at ‘Kidney Symposium 2026’, which discussed advances in kidney transplantation, post-transplant care, long-term graft health and the need to increase awareness about organ donation.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the symposium. NITI Aayog Member R. Balasubrahmanyam attended as the guest of honour. The symposium brought together nephrologists, urologists, transplant specialists and other medical professionals, who discussed recent developments in kidney transplantation and shared their clinical experiences.

Mr. Reddy said advances in medical technology, coordination among specialist teams and improved treatment approaches had strengthened kidney transplantation outcomes. He also stressed the need to improve public awareness about organ donation and dispel misconceptions surrounding it. He said initiatives such as the symposium could help strengthen awareness among medical professionals and the public about kidney disease prevention, timely treatment, organ donation and post-transplant care.

Yashoda Hospitals Managing Director G. Surender Rao said the hospital had achieved improved transplant outcomes through advanced technology, experienced specialists and comprehensive patient care. He said the hospital had also handled complex cases, including ABO-incompatible transplantation, transplantation in elderly patients and kidney donations from elderly living donors.
