Gurgaon Police detained Kalyan Bainsla today, the driver accused of ramming his car into a woman riding a sports bike on Golf Course Road, and said he would be brought to Gurgaon for questioning before being formally arrested.

The demand is believed to be the highest extortion amount sought in the national capital so far. A case was registered at the Civil Lines police station following a preliminary inquiry, while the Delhi Police Special Cell is also probing the matter.

Landslides struck the Karmatar and Upper Bullung areas of West Sikkim, blocking the road today. The residents were soon evcuated as a precaution. A landslide beneath a local school in Karmatar was reported Monday morning, after which an SSB disaster rescue team was deployed.

Another landslide at Upper Bullung blocked a road to vehicular traffic. No casualties, injuries or property damage were reported, officials said. Heavy earth-moving machinery has been requisitioned to clear the debris and restore traffic.
