Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan has announced the establishment of a Coconut Park in the state with the support of the Coconut Development Board. The park, according to the Chief Minister, will pave the way for production of quality processed products from coconut catering to the demand of export market.

Inaugurating the national-level celebrations of World Coconut Day 2026, the Chief Minister said the proposed coconut park is envisaged as a major platform for promoting modern processing and value addition and facilitating the production of high-quality processed coconut products capable of meeting export-market requirements. The initiative is expected to create greater opportunities for entrepreneurship, investment, value addition and market development in the state’s coconut sector.

T Siddique, the state agriculture minister, said the government is willing to provide the necessary land and support and need for a comprehensive strategy for the rejuvenation and revival of Kerala’s coconut sector.

The minister also announced that consultations with exporters and other stakeholders would be initiated within the next three months to develop export-oriented value-addition projects and strengthen business-to-business market linkages for coconut and coconut products.

Ram Nath Thakur, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, called for the expansion of coconut cultivation beyond traditional growing regions.

The National Coconut Awards 2026 were presented by Ram Nath Thakur in recognition of outstanding achievements and excellence in coconut cultivation, processing, value addition and entrepreneurship.
