KMC chief calls for removal of posters marring city’s aesthetic appeal

Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Challa Obulesu has expressed serious displeasure over the pasting of posters in public places, which mar the city beautification efforts. The Commissioner visited the Raj Vihar area on Monday, where he noticed posters affixed in locations developed as part of beautification projects and ordered their immediate removal.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner stated that major junctions, road dividers, walls, and utility poles across the city were being beautified using lakhs of rupees in public funds. However, he noted that the city’s aesthetic appeal was being damaged with the pasting of posters by certain advertisers and organisations that were violating regulations.

Mr. Obulesu directed the officials to identify those who pasted posters in Raj Vihar area, issue warnings, and impose fines in accordance with the rules. He made it clear that any posters or banners that mar beautification efforts must be removed immediately and that strict action must be taken against those responsible. He warned that designated areas should only be used for advertisements and called for an end to the practice of indiscriminately pasting posters or erecting banners in public spaces.

He also urged the public, business establishments, and advertisers to cooperate with the municipal corporation in preserving the city’s aesthetic appeal. Directing the officials to maintain continuous monitoring to curb the “poster culture” in the city, the Commissioner warned that strict action would be taken against those who violate regulations and mar the city’s beauty.
