A lorry driver was charred to death after two trucks collided head-on and caught fire at Kanjikkulam, near Mundur, on the Palakkad-Kozhikode National Highway-966 on Thursday (August 27, 2026) morning.
The deceased has been identified as Nasser, 29, a native of Thirurkad near Perinthalmanna.
The accident occurred when a container lorry collided with another lorry. Both vehicles caught fire following the impact, and the flames spread quickly.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Kongad reached the spot after being alerted and began efforts to put out the fire. Nasser was trapped inside the cabin of one of the lorries. His body could be recovered only after the fire was completely extinguished.
The accident caused a complete disruption of traffic on the Palakkad-Kozhikode route for several hours.
Nasser’s body was shifted to the District Hospital at Palakkad.
