MGM Healthcare organised a three-km umbrella walkathon, ‘Stride for Stroke’, in Chennai on Thursday to mark World Stroke Day. More than 400 people, including stroke survivors, participated in the event, which was flagged off by actor Ramya Subramanian.
According to the World Stroke Organization, one in four people is at risk of stroke during their lifetime, and more than 12 million people experience a stroke globally each year. Roopesh Kumar, Director of Neurosurgery, MGM Healthcare, stressed the importance of recognising warning signs such as facial drooping, weakness on one side of the body, and difficulty speaking.
