Comprehensive News & Policy Report

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called upon the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) machinery to gear up for the local body elections and aim to achieve a ‘strike rate’ better than the one registered in the 2024 Assembly polls.

Addressing a meeting of Ministers and TDP’s zonal observers at his camp office after the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said: “The upcoming local body elections is an opportunity to analyse the party’s performance.” He noted that this would be the first time that the TDP would contest the local body elections alongside its alliance partners BJP and Jana Sena Party.

He cautioned leaders about having differences with the alliance parties. He said: “There should be no squabbling under any circumstances as the YSR Congress Party would look to turn any strife among the allies to its advantage.” Mr.

Naidu suggested that the TDP should be a blend of experienced leaders and fresh faces and asked leaders to explain the coalition government’s accomplishments to the people through door-to-door campaigns at the village level.

Mr. Naidu said that the TDP-led government’s functioning was receiving a positive response and should not be wasted. He said that due priority would be given to youth and women. while selecting candidates based of performance and their levels of acceptance in the party.

Mr. Naidu reiterated TDP’s commitment to providing 34% reservations for Backward Classes in the local body elections as per the Act of 1995. IT Minister and TDP National Working President Nara Lokesh, State party president Palla Srinivasa Rao and other senior leaders were present.
