NEW DELHI: The MBBS academic session for the 2026-27 batch, scheduled to begin on Sept 8, is likely to be delayed by around a week as the NEET-UG counselling schedule has been extended amid court cases and requests from students for additional time to join colleges.Round 2 of counselling has been extended till Sept 18, while subsequent rounds are expected to continue into Oct.A health ministry official said the delay is likely to be limited, with the academic session expected to begin around Sept 15, without waiting for the entire counselling process to conclude. Two-three court cases, student pleas for more joining time and difficulties in travelling under the All India Quota were among factors behind the extension.
