NBEMS announces September 5 re-exam for 2,445 candidates affected at Jaipur's Sitapura centres

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced a re-examination date for 2,445 candidates whose NEET PG 2026 exam could not be completed at two centres in Jaipur's Sitapura area because of a technical disruption.The affected candidates will now appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2026 on September 5, 2026 (Saturday) at 3 pm in Jaipur, Rajasthan, NBEMS said in a notification issued on Sunday.The disruption occurred at iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura centres, Jaipur, Rajasthan, identified by test centre numbers 41682 and 41683. According to NBEMS, the examination could not be completed for the 2,445 candidates because of an internal power supply issue at the test centres, which was attributed to M/s TCS Ltd., the examination conducting agency.

The board expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the candidates and said the re-examination was being arranged to provide them with an “equitable opportunity” to appear in the postgraduate medical entrance examination.The announcement comes after NEET PG 2026 was conducted nationwide on August 30.Over 2.65 lakh candidates appeared

The NEET PG 2026 examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates across 1,111 examination centres in 339 cities, covering all 36 States and Union Territories.

A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination, which was successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates, NBEMS said.However, the examination could not be completed for the 2,445 candidates at the two Sitapura centres in Jaipur because of the technical disruption.The board said the NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted with real-time monitoring and security arrangements across the country.A total of 2,527 faculty members were appointed as Independent Appraisers to oversee the examination. More than 700 senior faculty members, including Deans, Directors, Medical Superintendents and senior professors, were also deployed as Flying Squad members.NBEMS said 16 Regional Command Centres were made operational for coordination and monitoring.The examination centres were placed under live CCTV surveillance, with feeds continuously monitored from the NBEMS Command Centre at its headquarters in Dwarka. A team of 190 personnel from NBEMS and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was deployed for real-time surveillance and monitoring.The board also said Aadhaar-based authentication of candidates was carried out at examination centres as part of measures to strengthen examination security and prevent impersonation.Re-exam to give affected candidates another opportunity

While the examination was completed for the overwhelming majority of candidates nationwide, the Sitapura disruption left 2,445 candidates unable to complete the test.NBEMS said it has taken the re-examination step to ensure that the affected candidates are given a fair opportunity to appear for NEET PG 2026.For these candidates, September 5 will now be the new examination date, with the test scheduled to begin at 3 pm in Jaipur, Rajasthan.The board said it appreciates the cooperation and patience of the affected candidates and acknowledged the efforts of the personnel and institutions involved in conducting the examination.
