Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana has announced to take up the reconstruction of the Balijavari Mahalakshmi temple in Nellore with an outlay of ₹1.01 crore.
The Minister and his wife P. Ramadevi participated in the ‘bhumi puja’ on Sunday, marking the beginning of the reconstruction work at the site located in Nawabpet area of the city.
An adjoining plot of land measuring 23 ‘Ankanams’ was earmarked in 2019 for its expansion, with the Minister extending ₹28 lakh from his personal funds for the work. The total budget for the reconstruction works was attained recently, with contributions pouring in from donors, especially from the Balija Kapu community.
The Minister thanked the donors for their contributions towards the redevelopment of the temple.
