Peethadhipathi of Sri Vishwaradhya Mutt in Abbetumkur Sri Gangadhar Swami has said that the mutt’s proposed Ayurvedic medical college will significantly benefit the local population, marking a dedicated effort to extend quality healthcare services to all communities.
He was speaking after presiding over the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the construction of the college near the mutt in Abbetumkur village, Yadgir district, on Sunday.
Reflecting on the mutt’s legacy, the seer highlighted that the institution has been established in the memory of Saint Sri Vishwaradhya who championed the principles of equality and humanity.
Throughout his lifetime, the saint promoted goodwill through spiritual discourses and worked tirelessly to build a casteless, religion-less society where everyone is treated equally.
”The mutt continues to uphold and pass on these foundational teachings by serving the public devotionally and running mass dining facilities (dasoha). Expanding into healthcare is our next step and this upcoming project will be named after Sakreppagouda, a prominent contemporary follower of Saint Vishwaradhya,” Dr. Gangadhar Swami said.
Laying the foundation stone, Minister for Medical Education and district in-charge Sharan Prakash Patil lauded the swamiji’s initiative.
He pledged full government coordination and support for the mutt’s pro-people welfare project. He said that the proposed Ayurvedic college will bring substantial health and educational benefits to the region.
Shivashekhar Vishwaradhya Swami, MLAs Channareddy Patil Tunnur and Sharanagouda Kandkur, KPCC member Nagareddy Patil Kardal, DCC president Basareddy Malipatil Anupur, BJP State Executive Member Mahesh Reddy Mudnal, Siddalingareddy Ullesugur, Vishwanath Sirwar, R. Mahadevappa, Chidanandappa Kalabelagundi and others were present.
