Shankarpally police arrested a 20-year-old alleged member of a Pardhi gang who was reportedly involved in a series of burglaries targeting locked houses and shop shutters in Shankarpally, BDL Bhanur, Gajwel and surrounding areas over the past six months.
The accused was identified as Rahul Vijay Pawar, a labourer from Aurangabad district of Maharashtra who was staying under a bridge at Tolichowki in Hyderabad. Police said he had been absconding in connection with the cases.
Acting on information about his movements, a Shankarpally police team conducted reconnaissance and apprehended Pawar near Shankarpally Railway Station at around 8.30 a.m. on August 29.
During interrogation, police said Pawar confessed to his involvement in 11 burglary cases. He was subsequently arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
Police said the gang had been targeting locked houses and shops, particularly shutters, to commit burglaries across Shankarpally, BDL Bhanur, Gajwel and nearby areas.
