Pregnant Dhandbad Teen Beheaded. 'Husband', 'Father-In-Law' Arrested

Police in Dhanbad district announced the arrest of four individuals, among them the alleged husband Krish Ravani and his father Jayram Ravani, following the discovery of a decapitated body of a pregnant teenager in a remote forest area of Kherbadia, Baliapur. The arrests were made after a forensic team and a police dog squad traced evidence from the crime scene, including a slipper left behind, to the suspects' residence.

The victim, identified as 17‑year‑old Poonam Kumari, was three months pregnant when her torso was found on a Friday morning, with her severed head recovered about 100 metres away inside a plastic sack. Local residents had reported a blood‑stained body in the bushes, prompting the Baliapur police to dispatch investigators from Ranchi. Superintendent of Police Ritvik Srivastava confirmed that blood samples and fingerprints were collected, and that the body has been sent for a post‑mortem. The four arrested include Krish Ravani, his father Jayram Ravani, aunt Alomani Devi, and an additional accomplice.

Poonam, originally from Giridih district, had been staying with relatives in Tundi for her studies when she met Krish. The couple eloped and lived in a rented house in Baliapur despite opposition from both families. According to relatives, Krish had previously been jailed over the relationship, and a village panchayat had attempted to mediate. Police allege that the murders were orchestrated by Jayram Ravani, who objected to the marriage on social‑status grounds, and that the case unfolded after a planned settlement meeting was disrupted. The investigation remains ongoing, with interrogations of the accused and a charge sheet expected soon.
