The accused, identified as Gajendra, has been taken into custody by the railway police for further investigation.

The incident reportedly took place around 5 a.m., when constable Shilpa was alone at the station. According to preliminary information, Gajendra had initially approached the station claiming that he had lost a mobile phone and wanted to lodge a complaint.

Shilpa allegedly told him that no other staff were present at the time and asked him to return in the morning to file the complaint. The man reportedly left the station but returned shortly afterwards.

He allegedly attacked Shilpa, who was sleeping on the desk at the police station, with an iron rod. The accused is said to have struck her on the head seven to eight times, leaving her seriously injured.

Shilpa was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Railway police have taken Gajendra into custody and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Meanwhile, Shilpa’s brother Krishna Nayak has levelled serious allegations against senior personnel at the police station.

According to Nayak, Shilpa was two months pregnant and had repeatedly requested that she be assigned day shifts. Despite this, she was allegedly assigned night-time sentry duty.
