Members of the Namma Karnataka Sene staged a protest at Sangolli Rayanna Circle in Hubballi on Saturday, urging the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation to take immediate measures to make the city dust- and pothole-free.
The protesters distributed masks to the public and later took out a march to the office of the Municipal Commissioner, where they submitted a memorandum. The protesters said dust from roads was affecting the health of residents, pedestrians, motorists, and traders.
They urged the civic body to scientifically control dust, repair damaged roads and potholes, and remove soil and debris from roads. They also demanded that the flyover work in the heart of Hubballi be completed within a stipulated timeframe to ease traffic congestion.
Labour leader Mahesh Pattar, district president Basavaraj Devaramani, taluk president Basavaraj Sali and others participated in the protest.
