The actress said the film gave her an opportunity to explore a different kind of character in a big commercial project. She also spoke about the extensive use of visual effects, her challenging makeup sessions, and the effort that went into creating her look.
Regina Cassandra, who was last seen in Ajith Kumar's 'Vidaamuyarchi', said she enjoyed working on the fantasy entertainer and was excited about the final result.3,000 VFX shots and two-hour makeup sessions in 'Mookuthi Amman 2' Speaking about her role in an interview with Cinema Vikatan, Regina Cassandra said, "For the first time in my career, I have played a villain in such a big commercial film.
I enjoyed every moment of it, both technically and emotionally. The audience will also get a similar experience while watching the film. Most of the scenes and shots featuring me have a lot of graphics. As director Sundar C sir mentioned, the film has at least 3,000 CGI shots.
A large team has been working on the visual effects for the past year." She added that her makeup alone took around two hours every day. Recalling her introduction scene, she said, "They poured a sticky liquid made of honey and pistachio green colour over me, from head to toe.
Managing that and performing the scene was a different experience altogether." Watch Regina Cassandra praises Nayanthara's 60-foot cutout and calls it a positive change Regina also shared her thoughts on the 60-foot cutout erected for Nayanthara ahead of the film's release.
She said such grand celebrations were usually associated with leading male stars in Tamil cinema. "For several decades, we have seen huge cutouts being put up only for male superstars. We have rarely seen the same for actresses.
Only after Nayanthara's cutout was installed did I learn that Radhika ma'am had also received one for 'Thaai Kizhavi'. She has been achieving so much in the film industry for over 30 to 40 years, and this recognition has come now.
Seeing actresses like Nayanthara and Radhika receive such grand cutouts, just like male actors, is a healthy change in the industry," she said.On villain roles after Ajith Kumar's 'Vidaamuyarchi' The actress also spoke about the kind of roles coming her way after 'Vidaamuyarchi'.
Regina said she has received several offers to play negative characters following the Ajith Kumar-starrer. However, she does not want to be limited to one type of role. "After working in a big film like 'Vidaamuyarchi' with Ajith sir, it is easy for the industry to place an actor in a particular category and offer similar roles.
I am very clear that I do not want that to happen to me. That is why I am careful about the films I choose and prefer to work on a limited number of projects," she said.Directed by Sundar C, 'Mookuthi Amman 2', featuring Nayanthara, Urvashi and Regina, is scheduled for a Diwali release.
