Manipuri musician Chongtham Vikram Singh died after being assaulted by a group of men outside his South Delhi home, prompting his wife Joshna Chongtham to appeal for justice at a community gathering. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, has raised concerns about the safety of Northeast residents in the capital.
On September 6, a 55-year‑old Manipuri singer, Chongtham Vikram Singh, was allegedly beaten to death by eight eatery workers in a South Delhi apartment building. The killing sparked a candlelight march by the North‑East community and renewed concerns over discrimination in the capital.

He had started out playing lead guitar in bands back in Manipur, before eventually moving to Delhi where he took up teaching at the Delhi School of Music.
Chongtham Vikram Singh , a well-known guitarist from Manipur, had been working as a private music teacher in Delhi for the past 17 years.
