A 75-bed PG near Delhi University’s South Campus collapsed during basement work. At least five people have died in the collapse, while 10 people have been rescued so far.
MCD’s annual survey found only 27 buildings unsafe despite covering nearly 30 lakh properties.
“How long must students be made to pay the price for failing infrastructure?” Abhijeet Dipke asked, demanding safe classrooms, hostels, and basic dignity for students.
The building, used as a PG accommodation for students, was around 40 to 50 years old and had a basement and five upper floors, Delhi Police said. Renovation work was allegedly being carried out on the ground floor when the structure collapsed. Earlier, police had said repair work was underway in the basement.
