In BRICS declaration, a push for greater India role at UN Security Council
BRICS leaders at the New Delhi summit issued a declaration urging comprehensive reform of the United Nations, including expanding the Security Council to give India and Brazil a larger role. China and Russia, both permanent members, reiterated their backing for the aspirations of the Global South, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a shift from a “rule‑taker” to a “rule‑shaper” stance.
