Supreme Court says falsely quoting judges in barred online court clips crosses over from contempt to crime
The Supreme Court ruled that adding fabricated remarks to court videos elevates the offence from contempt to a criminal act. The decision, delivered by a three‑judge bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, came while hearing a petition over unauthorized circulation of a lawyer’s courtroom appearance.
