Special train between Yeshwantpur and Bidar for Ganesha Chaturthi festival

South Western Railway confirmed the introduction of a special express train linking Yeshwantpur in Bangalore with Bidar in northern Karnataka, aimed at easing the heightened passenger demand associated with the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The move was announced by railway officials as part of the festival’s transportation plan.

The Yeshwantpur‑Bidar Express Special (train No. 06589) is scheduled to depart Yeshwantpur at 11:15 p.m. on 11 September and arrive in Bidar at 2:15 p.m. on 12 September. The return service (train No. 06590) will leave Bidar at 4:00 p.m. on 12 September, reaching Yeshwantpur at 5:30 a.m. on 13 September. Both services will halt at Yelahanka, Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Yadgir, Shahabad, Kalaburagi and Humnabad. The 18‑coach rake comprises nine sleeper‑class coaches, seven general second‑class coaches, two second‑class luggage‑cum‑guard brake vans and dedicated Divyangjan coaches.

The special train addresses the expected influx of pilgrims and local commuters traveling for the festival, offering additional capacity beyond regular schedules. By providing a direct, overnight connection, the railway aims to reduce crowding on existing services and improve travel convenience for residents of Karnataka’s southern and northern districts.
