Comprehensive News & Policy Report

Underscoring the contemporary relevance of Sree Narayana Guru’s vision and teachings, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Friday said that they should not remain confined within the borders of Keralam, but should be spread across the globe.

Inaugurating the jayanthi celebrations of Sree Narayana Guru at the Chempazhanthy Gurukulam here, Mr. Satheesan recalled his announcement in the 2026-27 Revised Budget that a statue and cultural centre dedicated to Narayana Guru would be established in New Delhi.

Through this project, the government envisioned an international centre on his teachings which would help to spread them across the globe, he said. There should come a day when Keralam can declare to the world that it is secular. Keralites should all become ‘Sree Narayaneeyar’ in the true sense to be able to describe the State as a place that is not divided by caste or religion, he said.

What distinguished Narayana Guru from the sages of India’s great ‘rishi parampara’ was his realisation that his calling lay in addressing the problems, hardships and sorrows of the people, he said. The Chief Minister said that the struggle for social justice has to be continued. There are sections across the country who remain marginalised from the mainstream. There is a need to empower them with education, he said.

V. Muraleedharan MLA presided over the function. Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust president Satchidananda gave the ‘Jayanti’ day message. Trust board member Swami Sookshmananda and K.U. Janeesh Kumar MLA, were among the speakers.
