With warfare becoming increasingly technology-driven, the Indian Army needs officers who are technically proficient and capable of adapting to emerging challenges on the battlefield, Lieutenant General I.S. Rathore, Commandant of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) said on Saturday.

Addressing 56 officer cadets undergoing training under the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-48 and TES-50) at the Cadets Training Wing (CTW) of MCEME in Secunderabad, he highlighted the critical role of technically-proficient officers in addressing the challenges of modern warfare.

He stressed the need for young officers to harness emerging technologies, foster innovation and collaboration, and develop a scientific temper. He also underscored the importance of lifelong learning to remain prepared for the evolving demands of military service.

The remarks were made at an award distribution ceremony held to recognise the achievements of 56 officer cadets from the TES-48 and TES-50 courses. Lt. Gen. Rathore presented medals and distinctions to cadets who excelled in academics, sports, physical training, outdoor training, weapon training and drill.
