The Hindu Group, in partnership with the Cancer Institute (WIA) in Adyar, unveiled a new reference work titled “Cancer 360: Overview of Detection, Treatment, Palliation.” The launch was hosted at The Hindu’s headquarters in Chennai, where N. Ram, director of The Hindu Group, and Suresh Nambath, the newspaper’s editor, presented the first copy to E. Hemanth Raj, the institute’s executive vice‑chairman.
The volume surveys the entire cancer care continuum—from prevention and early detection to precision treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative support. It compiles chapters authored by leading oncologists, surgeons, physiotherapists, psychologists, nutritionists and other specialists, covering topics such as multidisciplinary tumour boards, onco‑physiotherapy, speech and swallowing rehabilitation, and healthcare quality. Speakers at the launch, including Dr. Hemanth Raj, Prof. Arvind Krishnamurthy, Dr. Mahalakshmi Rangabashyam Shetty and Prof. Surendran Veeraiah, underscored the book’s role in translating cutting‑edge research into practical, locally relevant interventions.
The initiative reflects the Cancer Institute’s broader mission to extend affordable, high‑quality cancer treatment to underserved patients through charitable programmes and community outreach. By disseminating comprehensive, technically sound information, the publication aims to empower clinicians, patients and caregivers across Tamil Nadu and beyond, fostering a more informed and collaborative approach to cancer management.
