Comprehensive News & Policy Report

The Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University (SSCTU), Mulugu, has strengthened its academic offerings by launching collaborative programmes with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad, for the academic year 2026-27.

More than 105 students from nine States have joined the new programmes this year. They were formally welcomed at an induction programme held at the university’s transit campus at Jakkaram. Addressing the students online, IIT-H Director B.S.

Murty said the institute would extend full support to SSCTU in strengthening teaching and learning as well as augmenting its academic and infrastructure capabilities. He described the arrangement as a distinctive initiative as IIT-H faculty would directly undertake teaching responsibilities for students of another Central University.

SSCTU Vice-Chancellor Y.L. Srinivas said the collaborations with IIT-H and TISS-Hyderabad marked important milestones in the development of the new Central University. He said partnerships would provide students exposure to leading institutions, contemporary knowledge and industry-oriented learning, besides enhancing their employability and preparing them for changing professional requirements.

Mr. Srinivas also announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone for the university’s permanent campus in October. TISS Hyderabad Director Aseem Prakash urged students to approach their academic journey with discipline, commitment and continuous learning.
