Comprehensive News & Policy Report

UGC NET Result 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2026 result soon on its official portal, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. In a public announcement on Wednesday, the testing agency stated that the UGC NET 2026 final answer key PDFs will be published this week for 84 subjects. Meanwhile, the NTA has announced plans to reconduct the NET examinations for the English, Commerce, and Sociology papers.

The NTA conducted the UGC NET June 2026 examinations from June 22 to 30, and a retest on July 5, 2026, across 87 subjects, for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), eligibility for Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes. The provisional answer key PDFs and challenge link was issued for 84 subjects on August 16. The UGC NET objection window was open from August 16 to 18, 2026, for these papers.

According to the official notification, the English, Commerce, and Sociology exams will be re-conducted as per the given schedule.

The NTA had earlier stated that the allocation of JRF seats and issuance of e-certificates for these 84 subjects will not be delayed due to re-conduct of the examination for the three subjects.

According to official guidelines, percentile scores are based on the relative performance of all those who have appeared for the examination. In this process, the marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees.

According to the official exam notification, the NTA follows the normalisation procedure based on 'Percentile Score' for compilation of NTA scores for multi-session papers. The process is used for ensuring that candidates are neither benefitted nor disadvantaged due to the difficulty level of the examination, the official document noted.

The official notification stated that the English, Commerce, and Sociology exams will be re-conducted as per the given schedule. English: September 9, 2026 (Shift 1) 9 am to 12 pm Commerce: September 9, 2026 (Shift 2) 3 pm to 6 pm Sociology: September 10 2026 (Shift 1) 9 am to 12 pm

As per the official announcement, further details related to test city, exam centre, and admit card will be notified separately on the official website by the exam body. "No additional examination fee will be charged from the candidates of these three subjects for the re-conduct," the NTA noted.

Based on the challenges received against the provisional answer key, the NTA will publish the final answer key for final evaluation and marks calculation.

According to the official document, the committee recommended that, in the interest of holding a fair and error-free examination, these three papers should be re-conducted.

According to official guidelines, if a challenge is accepted by the subject experts, the resulting correction will be applied uniformly to all candidates of that subject. The answer key finalised after considering all challenges will be treated as final, the NTA noted. Applicants must keep in mind that the UGC NET June 2026 result will be based on the final answer key published after review.

The UGC NET 2026 exams were conducted for a total of 87 subjects. As per official information, the provisional answer key PDFs and challenge link has been issued for 84 subjects as of now. For the three remaining subjects - English, Commerce, and Sociology - the NTA has announced a re-exam on September 9 and 10.

Candidates must note that the record of the UGC NET June 2026 will be preserved for 90 days from the date of declaration of the result, the testing agency stated.

As per official notification, the NTA will provide an additional facility through the DigiLocker platform to enable candidates to download examination-related documents such as the NTA scorecard and other relevant records.
