Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev Confers Highest State Honour On PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday conferred Uzbekistan's highest state honour, the Order of Oliy Darajali Dustlik, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his two-day visit to the Central Asian country. PM Modi expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan and its people after receiving the award. He said he was honoured to receive the distinction and dedicated it to the enduring ties between India and Uzbekistan.

The honour was given for his contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership and deepening bilateral relations.

After receiving the award, Modi posted on X that he felt honoured to receive the Order of Oliy Darajali Dustlik.

“I dedicate it to the unbreakable relationship between India and Uzbekistan,” he said.

“I dedicate it to the unbreakable relationship between India and Uzbekistan,” he said.

PM also expressed hope that friendship between the two countries would continue to grow.

“May the friendship between India and Uzbekistan flourish. May our bilateral partnership advance in all areas and our people prosper,” he said.

President Mirziyoyev praised PM Modi's leadership and his international standing.

He said Uzbekistan knew Modi not only as an outstanding politician and a wise leader, but also as a leader who enjoys the trust and respect of the Indian people.

Mirziyoyev said India's rapid development and growing influence on the international stage in recent years were directly linked to Modi's leadership.

He also praised the Prime Minister's strategy and programmes for modernising India. Mirziyoyev said India was achieving remarkable progress across sectors under Modi's leadership.

The Uzbek President said the two countries had elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership following the visit and their discussions.

He described the development as historic and said Modi had made a major personal contribution to reaching the milestone.

Mirziyoyev said the current bilateral trade turnover of around $1 billion was far below the countries' potential. He said the first target was to raise trade to $5 billion, adding that he was confident the two countries could eventually reach $10 billion.
