Youth in Keralam’s Kozhikode held for alleged bid to record visuals from hospital toilet

The Kozhikode police took a 22‑year‑old individual into custody on Friday, September 11, after alleging that he tried to capture video footage of a toilet inside Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The alleged act occurred in the shared restroom adjacent to ward number 203, which serves both male and female patients and their attendants.

According to the police report, the incident took place at approximately 2 p.m. The youth, who had arrived at the hospital as an attendant for his father undergoing treatment, reportedly positioned himself above the partition to film the toilet area. Following a complaint filed by a woman accompanying another patient, officers arrived at the scene, seized the mobile phone believed to have been used for recording, and placed the suspect in custody.

The case highlights concerns over privacy and security within public healthcare facilities. Hospital patients, their families, and staff are directly affected by any breach of confidentiality in such sensitive spaces.
